Slipping the Gears (Pt 6)
The carving was neatly done in the bark, providing an almost life-like model of a cicada; one of many they had overheard on their journey today. It had been almost deafening at times listening to their alien cries back and forth as they committed to their mating dance. As she watched the carving, a spark glowed within it, pulsing for a moment, then lay dormant again. She waited, and as it again came to light, Chamylla could make out small, intricately carved gears turning within its fragile shell.
“Beautiful.”
She stroked the carving’s carapace, and it looked like it twitched, so she withdrew her hand quickly. From above, she saw some movement as two more of the mechanisms began to slowly crawl down the bark of the tree. Two more began their methodological journey from the roots, Another alighted from a branch upon high. Soon, she was staring at a dozen of the things, each with a pulsing light that beat faster as they approached the singular point of the original carving.

On Spiritualism…
Spiritualism is based on the belief that spirits exist and, basically, want to communicate with the living. Because of their insight, the spirits can provide moral/ethical issues and can be contacted through a medium who utilizes a spirit guide to provide insight. At the height of the religion between 1840-1920 (yes, this is considered a religious belief) over 8 million people followed it. It began to taper off in the 1880’s due to credibility issues by fraudulent mediums …
When I introduced Ray and Gwen in Gruff Ending, the intent was to introduce the two sides of the discussion. .. These represent (mostly) the warring sides of my own observations in Spiritualism and Mediumship where the things I’ve seen and experienced …

Recognizing Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women
data on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) in the United States has also been difficult to gather. Contributing to this difficulty is the fact that many times when Indigenous women and girls go missing, or when Indigenous murder victims are unidentified, forensic evidence has not been accurately collected or preserved by local law enforcement. Cases have been allowed to quickly go "cold", and crucial evidence has been "lost", or never forwarded on from local law enforcement to the appropriate agencies.

The Conversation
Announcer : Yes, viewers welcome back to Conversations , with your host, Guede Nibo !
<There are loud applause as Guede Nibo walks onto the spotlit stage, accompanied by the sound of a band playing somewhere off stage right. Two purple and black striped chairs sit facing one another. A small, circular, silver table sits between them. Seated upon it is a pitcher and two glasses. The camera and spotlight follows Nibo as he shakes hands with the audience who sits in the darkness outside the view of the spotlight. The music cuts as Nibo takes to center stage, while applause continue.>

Promises are Made…
Promised Neverland, like most anime shows/movies I have heard of in my very limited experience, started first as Manga (comics/graphic novels) that migrated to other mediums. Overall, it depicts a group of children raised in an orphanage - and in the first 20 minutes of the show I thought that E and her friends must have been playing a trick on me about the show. It was sweet. Sickly sweet. Diabetically so. I was questioning my promise to E to watch this …
Then it turned South. With a quickness. A true “what the hell did I just see ?” moment.

The first amendment states (among other things) that Congress shall not make a law abridging the freedom of speech. Since Congress cannot pass a law regarding what persons can say or write it falls to the independent actors to censor behaviors. Elizabeth Purdy defines Censors as those who seek to limit freedom of thought and expression by restricting spoken words, printed matter, symbolic messages, freedom of association, books, art, music, movies, television programs, and Internet sites. When the government engages in censorship, First Amendment freedoms are implicated. The Courts have several tests associated with the First Amendment to determine if an action is protected speec

Lunatic Fringe.
What is there to say for this week ? The chaos that has reigned down upon the Capital is, for most, disheartening. Legal experts from both sides of the aisle will be damning acts of this “insurrection” - and they should.
